Crypto exchange Kraken is set to launch the first CFTC-regulated perpetual futures contracts for eligible U.S. traders, marking a major milestone for the American crypto derivatives market. The new products are expected to become available on Kraken Pro within the next 30 days, bringing one of the world's most popular crypto trading instruments under U.S. regulatory oversight.
The contracts will be listed on Bitnomial Exchange, a CFTC-regulated designated contract market owned by Kraken's parent company, Payward, while clearing services will be provided through Kraken Derivatives US, a registered futures commission merchant. This structure allows Kraken to offer perpetual futures within an established regulatory framework, providing a compliant alternative to offshore trading platforms that have traditionally dominated the market.
Eligible clients will be able to trade perpetual futures tied to major cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Cardano, Chainlink, Dogecoin, Litecoin, and Avalanche. The products will be integrated directly into Kraken Pro, allowing traders to manage spot, margin, futures, and perpetual positions from a single platform.
Perpetual futures are the most actively traded crypto derivatives globally because they provide continuous market exposure without expiration dates while offering leverage and efficient risk management tools. The global market for these contracts generated more than $60 trillion in annual trading volume during 2025, highlighting their importance within digital asset markets.
Kraken's launch represents a significant development for the U.S. crypto industry, as it brings sophisticated derivatives products into a regulated environment overseen by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. The move could attract both retail and institutional traders seeking compliant access to crypto derivatives while reducing reliance on offshore exchanges.
The launch, expected within the next month, may reshape the competitive landscape for U.S. digital asset trading. As demand for regulated crypto products continues to grow, Kraken's entry into perpetual futures could encourage other exchanges to introduce similar offerings and further integrate digital assets into the traditional financial system.
