Reliance Industries announced several major developments at its AGM, highlighting its expanding ambitions across telecommunications, artificial intelligence, renewable energy and biofuels.
Jio Platforms filed its Draft Red Herring Prospectus (DRHP) on June 19, 2026, proposing an offering of up to 270 million shares (27 crore fresh shares). The company plans to use part of the proceeds to prepay debt at Jio Infocomm. As of March 31, 2026, Jio served 524.4 million subscribers with a monthly churn rate of 1.67%, underscoring its position as India's largest telecom operator.
In renewable energy, Reliance revealed that it has commenced commercial production of solar photovoltaic cells and modules. The company has already manufactured approximately 1 GW of heterojunction (HJT) solar modules and is targeting a fully integrated 20 GW annual manufacturing capacity spanning polysilicon, wafers, cells, modules and solar glass.
Reliance also outlined its next phase of AI expansion through Jio. Planned initiatives include multilingual AI services integrated directly into phone calls, the development of a sovereign AI backbone for India, and a large-scale AI infrastructure hub in Jamnagar powered by renewable energy. The company is also strengthening partnerships with Google and Meta to expand AI services, including Gemini-powered applications.
Additionally, Reliance highlighted the growth potential of its compressed biogas (CBG) and bioenergy business, stating that the platform is now ready for large-scale expansion. Management said the operation has the potential to become the world's largest bioenergy business, adding another long-term growth driver alongside telecom, AI and renewable energy.
