Nepal faced a disappointing loss in the first match of the UAE series under ICC World Cup League 2, falling to the United States by a massive 106-run margin.
Chasing a target of 263 runs set by the USA, Nepal was bowled out for 156 runs in 39.1 overs. Most of Nepal’s batsmen struggled to handle the USA bowling attack.
Dipendra Singh Airee scored the highest for Nepal with 40 runs, followed by Aasif Sheikh with 37 and Bhim Sharki with 29. Captain Rohit Paudel managed only 2 runs, while the rest of the batting lineup failed to provide resistance.
USA bowler Harmeet Singh dominated from the beginning, claiming an impressive 6 wickets for just 26 runs in 8.1 overs.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being sent to bat first at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, USA posted a strong total of 262 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 50 overs. Opener Smit Patel contributed 75 runs, while Milind Kumar remained unbeaten on 70.
Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane took 2 wickets, while Sompal Kami, Aarif Sheikh, and Dipendra Singh Airee claimed one wicket each.
