The German government has announced plans to procure 424 new armored vehicles valued at approximately €7 billion, as part of its ongoing defense modernization initiative. Under the deal, Rheinmetall’s subsidiary Artec GmbH will deliver 150 “Schakal” infantry vehicles, with production and deliveries scheduled between 2027 and 2031. The order reinforces Germany’s commitment to strengthening its ground forces amid growing security challenges in Europe.
In a separate development, Rheinmetall, in partnership with Italian defense group Leonardo, secured a €700 million contract from the Italian army for the supply of Lynx wheeled armored combat vehicles. The collaboration highlights the growing demand for modular, high-performance military platforms across NATO allies.
Additionally, Rheinmetall and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ) have signed a joint venture agreement to produce military support vehicles for Poland, including armored recovery and engineering units. The partnership aims to enhance Poland’s domestic defense production capabilities while deepening industrial cooperation within Europe’s defense sector.
Together, these contracts underscore Rheinmetall’s expanding footprint in the European defense market, positioning the company as a key player in the continent’s ongoing efforts to bolster military readiness and technological independence.
