Reliance Industries has taken a major step toward launching its enterprise artificial intelligence (AI) venture with Meta. On Saturday, October 25, its subsidiary Reliance Intelligence announced an investment of ₹2 crore to incorporate Reliance Enterprise Intelligence Limited (REIL).
REIL will be the joint venture between Reliance Intelligence and Facebook Overseas, Inc., a wholly owned Meta subsidiary. The company will focus on developing, marketing, and distributing enterprise AI services, marking a concrete move from the earlier collaboration announced this year.
Reliance Intelligence has subscribed to 20 lakh equity shares of ₹10 each, totaling ₹2 crore, for REIL’s incorporation. Both companies had earlier committed an initial investment of about ₹855 crore ($100 million), with Reliance holding 70% and Meta 30% of the venture.
The joint venture aims to leverage Meta’s open-source Llama models to build an enterprise AI Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), allowing organisations to deploy and manage generative AI applications securely at scale. Pre-configured solutions will cater to cross-functional and sector-specific needs, including sales, IT, customer service, and finance.
Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani described the partnership as a “game changer” to accelerate digital adoption across industries, targeting businesses from SMBs to large corporates at affordable rates, while also expanding Meta’s AI initiatives in India.
