Nobel Peace Prize 2025 to Be Announced Today

The Nobel Peace Prize 2025 is set to be announced on Friday, October 10, drawing global attention — especially after US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that he deserves the honor. The prestigious award, one of the five original Nobel Prizes established by Swedish inventor Alfred Nobel, honors individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to peace and international harmony.

With all other Nobel Prizes — in Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature, and Economics — already announced this week, the focus now shifts entirely to Friday’s highly anticipated reveal.

The Nobel Peace Prize will be announced at 11 a.m. Central European Summer Time (CEST), which corresponds to 2:30 p.m. Indian Standard Time (IST).

Unlike other Nobel Prizes, the Nobel Peace Prize nomination process allows a wide range of nominators, including university professors, national assembly members, government officials, past laureates, and leaders of peace research institutes. Notably, no official invitation is required for a valid nomination.

However, the nominee list remains confidential and is sealed for 50 years, in accordance with the Nobel Foundation’s strict regulations.

The entire selection process takes about eight months, with the Norwegian Nobel Committee making its final decision by early October each year. The winner is determined through a simple majority vote, and the decision is final and cannot be appealed.

According to Alfred Nobel’s will, the Peace Prize is awarded to the person or organization that has done “the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, the abolition or reduction of standing armies, and the promotion of peace congresses.”

This year’s announcement comes at a particularly charged moment, with geopolitical tensions, wars, and peace efforts around the world — making the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize one of the most closely watched in recent years.
