The rapid acceleration of artificial intelligence is reshaping the global corporate landscape, driving brand values to record levels and transforming how consumers interact with companies worldwide.
According to the latest 2026 Kantar BrandZ Global Top 100 ranking, the combined value of the world’s most valuable brands surged 22% year over year to a record $13.1 trillion, as AI-powered platforms, personalised digital experiences and machine-driven recommendations increasingly influence consumer behaviour.
For the first time in history, three companies simultaneously crossed the $1 trillion brand-value threshold. Google reclaimed the world’s top spot with a brand value of $1.48 trillion, up 57% from a year earlier, overtaking Apple Inc., which slipped to second place at $1.38 trillion. Microsoft Corporation ranked third with a brand value of $1.11 trillion, while Amazon.com, Inc. followed closely at $1.02 trillion.
Kantar said Google’s sharp rise was fueled by the aggressive integration of its Gemini AI system across products, the rollout of AI-driven search features and heavy investment in data-center infrastructure.
AI-focused brands emerged as some of the strongest performers in this year’s rankings. Anthropic’s Claude debuted at number 27 with a brand value of $96.6 billion, while OpenAI’s ChatGPT recorded the fastest annual growth in brand value, surging 285%. Kantar noted that only BlackBerry Limited achieved a larger single-year increase historically, when its brand value jumped 390% in 2008.
Martin Guerrieria, Head of Kantar BrandZ, said AI is accelerating both growth and competitive pressure, forcing marketers to process more data and make faster decisions in increasingly fragmented markets.
Asian brands also continued expanding their global influence, with 23 Asian companies now represented in the top 100 ranking. Chinese technology and financial brands were among the standout performers, including Alibaba Group, Tencent Holdings, Xiaomi Corporation and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China.
Tencent climbed back into the global top 10, ranking eighth with a brand value of $251.6 billion after a 45% increase year over year.
Kantar said Chinese brands are gaining global momentum by rapidly interpreting consumer trends and moving quickly to deliver products and services that align with evolving customer expectations.
Among sector leaders, Zara overtook Nike as the world’s most valuable apparel brand, supported by AI-powered personalised shopping experiences. In luxury goods, Hermès surpassed Louis Vuitton to become the most valuable luxury brand globally.
The financial-services sector also posted strong gains, driven by consumer trust and stronger customer relationships at banks such as JPMorgan Chase & Co. and HSBC Holdings plc.
The Middle East remained underrepresented in the global rankings, with Saudi Aramco continuing as the region’s only brand in the top 100, reflecting Saudi Arabia’s long-term investment push to strengthen its international corporate presence.
