Bihar Assembly Election 2025: NDA Secures a Landslide Victory

The Election Commission announced the results for all 243 seats of the Bihar Assembly on 14 November 2025. The ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) achieved a decisive victory, winning over 200 seats and leaving the Mahagathbandhan trailing significantly. The majority mark in the 243-member Assembly is 122 seats.

Within the NDA, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 89 seats, up from 74 in 2020, while Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal (United) improved its tally to 85 seats from 43. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) saw a sharp decline, winning only 25 seats compared to 75 previously. The Congress party secured just six out of the 61 seats it contested, down from 19.

The Bihar elections were held in two phases on 6 and 11 November, with exit polls predicting a strong showing for the NDA. Matrize Exit Poll forecasted the NDA winning between 147-167 seats, Dainik Bhaskar estimated 145-160, and People's Insight projected 133-148. All polls consistently indicated a disappointing debut for Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj party.

The election results confirm the NDA’s dominance in Bihar, with the BJP and JD(U) together comfortably crossing the majority mark, while opposition parties face significant challenges ahead. The full list of winners reflects victories across major constituencies, highlighting the broad support for the NDA alliance.
