Beijing, Nov 2025 – Baidu’s Apollo Go driverless car unit has reported that its fully autonomous robotaxi service now exceeds 250,000 weekly rides, matching figures previously reported by U.S.-based Waymo in April 2025.
Apollo Go, which operates primarily in Wuhan, Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, has also expanded internationally to Hong Kong, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Switzerland. The company has received 17 million ride orders to date, with its cars driving a cumulative 240 million kilometers (149 million miles) and completing 140 million fully driverless rides.
On safety, Apollo Go disclosed that on average there is one airbag deployment for every 10.1 million kilometers driven, and no major accidents involving human injury or death have been reported.
For the quarter ending June 30, Apollo Go averaged approximately 169,000 rides per week, indicating a substantial ramp-up in recent months. The company continues to expand as China and U.S. firms compete in AI, autonomous driving, and electric vehicles.
Baidu is scheduled to release its quarterly results on Nov. 18 and will host its annual tech conference in Beijing on Nov. 13.
While weekly robotaxi figures from Chinese rivals Pony.ai and WeRide remain unavailable, Apollo Go’s milestone underscores Baidu’s growing dominance in autonomous mobility.
