Major hedge funds disclosed significant first-quarter portfolio changes late Friday, with Alphabet becoming one of the biggest focal points among institutional investors.

Duquesne Family Office Exits Alphabet Position

Billionaire investor Stanley Druckenmiller’s Duquesne Family Office reported that it completely exited its 385,000-share position in Alphabet during the first quarter.

The move came only one quarter after the firm sharply increased its holdings in the company from roughly 102,000 shares to 385,000 shares.

Alphabet stock finished Friday up 1% at $396.78. Shares have gained about 27% so far in 2026, although the stock declined roughly 8% between the beginning of the year and March 31.

In addition to selling Alphabet, Duquesne also exited positions in:

• State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund
• Cogent Biosciences
• Delta Air Lines
• American Airlines

Duquesne Opens New Biotech Positions

At the same time, Duquesne initiated several new healthcare and biotech investments, including:

• Nuvation Bio — 4.5 million shares
• Caris Life Sciences — 1.9 million shares
• Olema Pharmaceuticals — 987,000 shares

The new positions suggest Druckenmiller may be increasing exposure to healthcare innovation and biotechnology opportunities.

TCI Fund Expands Alphabet Investment

While Duquesne sold Alphabet, Christopher Hohn’s TCI Fund Management moved aggressively in the opposite direction.

TCI disclosed:

• A new 2.46 million-share position in Alphabet
• An increase in Alphabet Class C shares to 8.85 million from 7.6 million

The hedge fund also expanded positions in several financial and ratings companies:

• Visa
• S&P Global
• Moody's

Meanwhile, TCI sharply reduced its exposure to Microsoft, cutting its position from 16.78 million shares to 2.73 million shares.

Third Point Adds Meta and Alphabet

Daniel Loeb’s Third Point also disclosed notable first-quarter portfolio changes.

New purchases included:

• Meta
• Alphabet
• SPDR Gold Shares
• Hut 8 Corp
• TransDigm

Third Point also exited several holdings, including:

• PG&E
• Microsoft
• Brookfield Asset Management
• Casey's
• CoStar Group

Institutional Investors Rotate Toward Selective AI and Growth Exposure

The filings highlight how hedge funds are becoming increasingly selective in technology and AI-related investments.

While some firms reduced exposure to mega-cap technology stocks after strong multi-year gains, others continued building positions in companies tied to artificial intelligence, digital infrastructure, financial data, and biotech innovation.

Alphabet’s mixed institutional activity particularly stands out, with some major investors taking profits while others significantly expanded exposure during the quarter.
