Adani Group's Ambuja Cements Ltd. (ACL) announced on Monday the commissioning of a 4 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) brownfield expansion of its clinker unit at Bhatapara, Chhattisgarh. The new capacity is now fully operational, increasing the company’s consolidated clinker capacity to 66 MTPA.
Strong Q2 FY26 Performance:
Ambuja Cements reported robust earnings for the September quarter:
- Consolidated Net Profit: ₹1,766 crore, sharply higher than ₹480 crore a year ago, aided by a tax write-back of ₹1,465 crore.
- Profit Before Tax: Rose 13% year-on-year to ₹838 crore.
- Revenue: Increased 22% year-on-year to ₹9,175 crore, marking its highest-ever Q2 topline.
Revised Growth Targets:
The company has raised its FY28 capacity target by 15 MTPA to 155 MTPA, up from the earlier goal of 140 MTPA. The additional capacity will be achieved through debottlenecking at a lower capital expenditure of $48 per tonne.
Operational Initiatives:
- Product Mix Optimization: Installing 13 blenders across plants over the next 12 months to increase the share of premium cement and improve realizations.
- Logistics Upgrade: Enhancing plant logistics infrastructure to boost capacity utilization by 3% over the next 24 months.
Market Reaction:
Shares of Ambuja Cements ended 1.28% lower at ₹542.90 on the BSE.
