Australia’s Electro Optic Systems (EOS) announced on Friday that it secured a $124 million order to supply its Slinger anti-drone remote weapon system to UAE-based defense manufacturer Generation 5. The deal represents a significant boost for the defense technology company and strengthens its position in the growing counter-drone market.
In addition to the supply agreement, EOS signed a binding and conditional joint venture deal with Generation 5 to manufacture and distribute 200-300kW high-energy laser weapon systems (HELW) as well as existing anti-drone technologies. The joint venture is expected to be funded through equal equity contributions from both companies.
Investors reacted positively to the announcement, sending EOS shares up as much as 20.5%, marking the company's strongest trading session in six months and lifting the stock to its highest level in more than two weeks.
EOS said the partnership could lead to additional development and production contracts, potentially expanding its future order book. The Canberra-based company expects the joint venture to begin contributing to earnings from 2027 or 2028, providing a long-term growth opportunity in the rapidly evolving defense and security sector.
