Sudurpashchim Royals clinched their third consecutive win in the second edition of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) after defeating Karnali Yaks by 45 runs.
With this victory, Sudurpashchim climbed to the top of the points table, while Karnali, suffering their second loss in three matches, dropped to sixth place.
Chasing a target of 140 runs, Karnali were bowled out for just 94 runs with five balls remaining. Captain Dipendra Singh Airee led the bowling attack brilliantly, taking 4 wickets. For Karnali, Pawan Sarraf scored the highest with 27 runs, followed by Mark Watt with 17 runs. After losing 4 wickets for just 29 runs, captain Sompal Kami and Sarraf tried to steady the innings with a 34-run partnership.
However, regular fall of wickets weakened Karnali’s chase. Airee was the standout performer for Sudurpashchim, claiming 4 wickets for 23 runs in his 4 overs. Harmeet Singh bowled tightly, taking 2 wickets for just 19 runs, including a maiden over. Avinash Bohara also contributed with 2 wickets. Scott Kuggeleijn delivered an impressive spell, conceding only 9 runs in 4 overs and taking 1 wicket. Hemant Dhami picked up the remaining wicket.
Sudurpashchim’s dominant performance pushed them to the top spot as they continue their winning momentum in the tournament.
