Kumari Bank Launches “Green Savings Deposit” Account with Tree-Planting Initiative

Kumari Bank has introduced a new deposit scheme called the Green Savings Deposit Account, based on the principle of “One Account, One Tree.” Under this initiative, the bank will plant one tree for every account opened under the scheme.

The bank stated that this program allows depositors to indirectly contribute to environmental conservation and promotion. Customers will also receive a 0.25% higher interest rate compared to regular savings accounts. Additional benefits include insurance coverage up to NPR 100,000, two years of free mobile banking, and phone loan facilities up to NPR 200,000.

According to Arpan Paudel, Head of the Bank’s Sustainable Banking Department, deposits collected through this scheme will be directed towards loans in sectors promoting sustainable development and positive environmental impact, while the tree-planting aspect ensures a dual benefit for environmental protection.

The Green Savings Deposit Account is available at all branches of Kumari Bank. The bank currently operates 302 branches, 317 ATMs, 50 extension counters, and 48 branchless banking units across the country.
