Key Announcement:
KEC International Ltd, a global infrastructure EPC major and part of the RPG Group, has secured new orders worth ₹1,150 crore. This includes the largest-ever order for its India Transmission & Distribution (T&D) business.
Order Breakdown:
- India T&D Business: Won a major composite order from a reputed private player for a 765 kV transmission line and a 765/400 kV air-insulated substation on a turnkey basis.
- Civil Business: Secured an order for incremental civil and structural works for a 150 MW thermal power plant, expanding its footprint in the segment.
Market Reaction & Financial Performance:
Ahead of the announcement, KEC's shares closed at ₹694.45 on the BSE, up 1.54%. The company reported a 19% year-on-year revenue growth in Q2 FY25, driven by a sharp 44% growth in the T&D business. Weakness in the civil segment, due to monsoon disruptions and payment delays, partially offset this performance.
Management Outlook:
Managing Director and CEO Vimal Kejriwal reaffirmed the company's full-year guidance:
- Revenue Growth: ~15%
- Operating Margin: ~8%
He noted that nearly 60% of revenues typically accrue in the second half, supporting operating leverage and margin achievement.
Year-to-Date Order Book:
With these new wins, KEC's order intake for the current fiscal year has crossed ₹18,000 crore, strengthening management's confidence in achieving its annual targets. The record T&D order underscores its leadership in the domestic power infrastructure space.
