Golyan Group to Spend Rs. 150 Million Annually on Education for Children of Gen-Z Movement Martyrs

Golyan Group has announced that it will spend Rs. 15 million (1.5 crore) annually on the education of children whose families lost members in the Gen-Z movement. School operators have expressed support for this initiative.

A three-party agreement was signed on Tuesday at Golyan Tower between Golyan Group, the respective schools, and the guardians of the children to support the education of martyrs’ children. The agreement was signed by Jyoti Gaire, Head of Corporate Affairs, Public Relations and Communications of Golyan Group, representatives of the schools where the children are enrolled, and the guardians.

This agreement has been implemented to execute the commitment previously announced by Golyan Group on October 10. Under this initiative, scholarships will be provided to nine children from six martyr families.

According to the agreement, Golyan Group will bear expenses of up to Rs. 480,000 per child annually, at the rate of Rs. 40,000 per month, for their education. This includes monthly tuition fees, meals and snacks, hostel expenses, transportation, extracurricular activities, annual admission fees, administrative charges, books and stationery, school uniforms, and all other charges listed by the school. The Group will directly pay the schools based on bills or invoices they issue.

The Group will also bear the cost of extracurricular activities based on the children’s interests, within the scholarship limit. If the school does not provide such activities, children will be allowed to learn these skills elsewhere, and Golyan Group will cover the expenses within the scholarship amount.

Ganesh Kumar Mishra, Principal of Trijyoti Secondary School, expressed support for Golyan Group’s commitment, stating that the initiative has placed the future of these children at the center. Two sons of martyr Sajan Kumar Rai are studying at his school. He also mentioned that since the mother of the children has also passed away, the school has taken on a special responsibility in their care.

Rita Rai Dahal, founder principal of Cambridge Public High School and advisor to PABSON, suggested that Golyan Group should organize regular extracurricular programs to help children engage socially, interact, and develop healthy competition. Cambridge currently hosts two sons and one daughter of martyr Santosh Bishwakarma.

She said, “By taking responsibility for their education, Golyan Group has become a true guardian of these children. We are also committed to providing them with the best educational environment.”

Shyam Krishna Bhetwal, Chairman of Northpole Academy’s School Management Committee, stated that Golyan Group has fulfilled its social responsibility by ensuring education for children of martyrs. One son of martyr Anish Parajuli is currently studying at Northpole Academy, while the younger child will study at Kathmandu Euro School under the agreement.

Among the scholarship recipients are:

  • Two sons of martyr Anish Parajuli studying at Northpole Academy and Kathmandu Euro School
  • Martyr Abhishek Chaulagain’s sister studying at Jagriti Vidya Sadan English School in Bhaktapur
  • Martyr Buddhabahadur Tamang’s son studying at Kasyap Academy, Kalanki
  • Martyr Sauran Kishor Shrestha’s son in Grade 1 at Euro School, Chhauni
  • Three children of martyr Santosh Bishwakarma at Cambridge Public High School
  • Two sons of martyr Sajan Kumar Rai at Trijyoti Secondary School

Golyan Group clarified that it will bear education expenses up to Grade 12 within the announced scholarship package. Speaking at the event, Managing Director Akshay Golyan said that this agreement marks a meaningful step in implementing their commitment to providing education to the children of martyrs.

He emphasized that the Group took responsibility for these children’s education as a gesture of respect for the contribution of martyrs during the Gen-Z movement. He said, “This is not a business promotion or marketing strategy. We have undertaken this responsibility from the heart. This agreement ensures not only quality education but also opportunities for building talents beyond the classroom.”

Corporate and Communications Head Jyoti Gaire informed that scholarships will be provided to 32 children from 24 martyr families. Golyan Group has allocated approximately Rs. 150 million for this purpose. She added that health insurance for families not covered by the scholarship is also being processed simultaneously.
