Arsenal sensation Luis Munoz, just 13 years old, has set a new record by becoming the youngest player ever to feature in the UEFA Youth League. The England Under-15 international made a brief appearance in the 85th minute of Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the under-19 competition.
At 13 years, 11 months, and 15 days, Munoz broke the previous record held by Liam Payas, who played for Gibraltar-based Lincoln Red Imps at 14 years and three months in September 2024. Munoz, a natural midfielder, came on as a forward for the final minutes of the match.
Earlier this month, Munoz was part of the Arsenal Under-16 team that won the Premier League U16 National Finals, defeating Aston Villa in the final.
The match also featured Max Dowman, 15, who scored twice and had previously made his Premier League debut in August at 14 years and eight months. Emerson Nwaneri, 15 and brother of Arsenal first-team midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, also came off the bench.
Although Arsenal’s under-19 side is unlikely to progress to the knockout stages—having lost four of their first five Youth League games—the club used the match to give exposure to younger, less experienced talents like Munoz, Dowman, and Nwaneri.
This milestone highlights Arsenal’s commitment to nurturing exceptional young talents and providing them early experience on a continental stage.
