Vitol and Cnergyico Deliver Pakistan’s Largest Shipment of Low-Sulphur Marine Fuel

Karachi, November 2025 – Global trading firm Vitol and Pakistan’s largest oil refiner Cnergyico have completed the largest-ever shipment of very low sulphur fuel oil (VLSFO) for ship refuelling in Pakistan.

Key points:

  • The delivery enables vessels refuelling in Pakistan to sail longer east-to-west routes without stopping elsewhere.
  • The shipment comes from Cnergyico’s first large-scale batch of IMO-compliant low-sulphur marine fuel, produced after importing U.S. crude in August-September.
  • Fuel was supplied to an MSC vessel at Port Qasim via a Singapore-flagged bunker barge, Marine Ista, carrying 6,800 metric tons in a single delivery.
  • This is the first barge loading directly from Karachi Port Trust's Oil Pier instead of truck deliveries.
  • Vitol’s new bunker locations in Pakistan include Karachi Port, Port Qasim, and Karachi Anchorage.

Cnergyico stated that the initiative strengthens Pakistan’s capacity to serve the global shipping industry with sustainable marine fuel.
