Coinbase Sets December 17 for Major System Update, Teases “Future of Money”

SAN FRANCISCO / December 1, 2025 — Major U.S. cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced a key date for its users, revealing that it will unveil the next evolution of its platform on December 17.

In a tweet, Coinbase highlighted the upcoming system update, telling users, “See you on the 17th,” and describing the event as marking a new era for the platform with the tagline “the future of money is here.” The event will be broadcast via livestream on X at 2:00 p.m. PST.

The specifics of the update remain under wraps, but the announcement comes shortly after Coinbase completed a funds migration from legacy internal wallets to new wallets for BTC and ETH on November 22. The company emphasized that the migration was unrelated to market conditions or security incidents, noting it was part of ongoing efforts to maintain industry-leading security standards.

Coinbase has also been active on the trading front. Rayls (RLS) has been added to its roadmap, while trading for Muse Dao (MUSE) and Wrapped Centrifuge (WCFG) has been disabled. Meanwhile, the suspension for Clover Finance (CLV), EOS (EOS), and League of Kingdoms Arena (LOKA) will continue until December 10 at 2:00 p.m. ET.

In product updates, Aster perpetual contracts are now available on Coinbase International Exchange and Coinbase Advanced, while Irys (IRYS), Fluid (FLUID), and World Mobile Token (WMTX) have been listed on the platform and its mobile app.

Analysts have shown renewed confidence in Coinbase. In October, JPMorgan upgraded the company to an “overweight” rating, citing improved valuation relative to its crypto peers and a reduction in perceived risks.

Coinbase users and investors are eagerly anticipating the December 17 update, which promises to mark a significant evolution for the platform and its offerings in the cryptocurrency space.
