Experts See Bitcoin Pullback as Healthy Consolidation Amid Speculative Asset Correction

Jurien Timmer, Director of Global Macro at Fidelity, recently commented that the crash in speculative assets—including meme stocks, SPACs, non-profitable tech companies, recent IPOs, and Bitcoin—is “probably a good thing.” He suggested that such pullbacks cool down irrational exuberance and can be beneficial for the broader market and long-term investors.

Mid-Cycle Reset for Crypto?

Many analysts describe the recent Bitcoin drop as a normal 20–30% correction during a bull cycle, rather than the end of it. These corrections often shake out weak hands and reduce excessive leverage, laying the groundwork for future gains.

Binance CEO Richard Teng echoed this sentiment, calling Bitcoin’s current state a “healthy consolidation phase.” He attributed the price decline to broader trends affecting all speculative assets.

Meanwhile, Arthur Hayes highlighted that the purge of excess leverage, combined with a liquidity drawdown, may set the stage for a major rebound. Hayes added that if the Federal Reserve resumes monetary easing, Bitcoin could reach $200,000–$250,000 in the coming years.

Forecasts from Analysts

JPMorgan analysts, led by Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou, estimate that Bitcoin could hit around $170,000 within 6–12 months, based on a volatility-adjusted comparison with gold.

Network Health Remains Strong

Despite the pullback, Timmer emphasized that Bitcoin’s network fundamentals remain robust. While momentum has collapsed and the cryptocurrency is acting more as a risk amplifier than a safe haven, the power law model of Bitcoin’s network suggests it remains on track.

“Taking a step back and looking at Bitcoin’s power curve, we can see that despite Bitcoin’s drawdown below $100k, it remains more or less on track vs the network model,” Timmer noted.

Analysts broadly agree that while short-term volatility continues, the recent pullback clears the way for stronger long-term growth, reinforcing the narrative of Bitcoin’s resilience as a digital asset.
