Recently, Kia’s new Sorento SUV was tested in India for the first time. Manufactured by the South Korean automaker, this is one of the company’s first hybrid models.
The SUV is expected to hit the Indian market next year, with the official launch planned for early 2026, according to Kia.
The new Sorento features a Tiger Nose grille, T-shaped LED DRLs, a raised bonnet, square-highlighted wheel arches, 19-inch alloy wheels with 235/55 R19 tires, a flag-style tailgate, and connected tail lamps.
According to the company, the global spec Sorento measures 4.8 meters in length with a wheelbase of 2800 mm. Many interior features and specifications are yet to be officially revealed.
Inside, the SUV is expected to offer a panoramic curved screen setup, dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, wireless charging pad, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, 360-degree camera, and multiple airbags. The cabin also includes a rotary dial gear system, confirming that this is a hybrid variant.
The new Sorento will come with multiple engine options: 1.6L turbo petrol-hybrid, 1.6L plug-in hybrid, 2.5L petrol, and 2.5L turbo petrol.
Kia India estimates the price of the Sorento in India at around INR 35 lakh. Upon launch, it is expected to compete with SUVs like the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, and MG Gloster.
