Trump Signs Bill Requiring DOJ to Release Jeffrey Epstein Files

President Donald Trump announced on Wednesday night that he had signed a bill mandating the Department of Justice to release unclassified records related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. The legislation, which passed nearly unanimously in Congress, instructs Attorney General Pam Bondi to make the documents public within 30 days, with exceptions for victims’ personal information, child abuse materials, or records that could compromise ongoing investigations.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump emphasized that he had urged Republican leaders to support the bill, which he claimed helped secure near-unanimous approval in the House. The announcement also highlighted Epstein’s political associations, with Trump describing him as a “lifelong Democrat” connected to prominent Democratic figures. Bondi has reportedly assigned Manhattan U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton to investigate Epstein’s links to several of Trump’s political rivals. The move has been widely seen as a step toward increasing transparency around Epstein’s network while protecting sensitive information.
