Kathmandu Metropolitan City Collects Over NPR 3.22 Billion in Revenue by Kartik End

As of the end of Kartik in the current fiscal year, Kathmandu Metropolitan City has collected NPR 3,224,125,149 in revenue. During the same period last year, the city had collected NPR 3,167,614,657.

This represents an increase of NPR 56,104,492 compared to the same period last year. Last year, the revenue collection target was set at NPR 12,906,325,000, while the current fiscal year’s projected collection is NPR 15,114,341,000.

During this period, internal revenue accounted for NPR 1,968,175,700, slightly lower than last year’s NPR 1,990,267,695, showing a decrease of NPR 22,091,995.

The decline in internal revenue is primarily due to property tax collection. In the first quarter of last year, property tax collection stood at NPR 503,103,738, whereas this year it reached NPR 427,654,276.

However, rental tax collection has increased. Last year, NPR 948,528,154 was collected during this period, while this year the amount rose to NPR 1,029,750,570. Revenue from business tax has also grown, increasing from NPR 228,078,708 last year to NPR 233,236,170 this year.

Meanwhile, revenue collected from building map fees has declined. Last year, the city collected NPR 120,666,649 from building map fees, whereas this year it decreased to NPR 88,860,881, reflecting a slowdown in building construction activities in the city.
