The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has issued a notice to acquire approximately 740,000 square meters of land for the 400 kV electricity transmission line project under the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) initiative.

According to the notice, the land to be acquired is located in the Nanglebhare and Lapsifedi areas of Kathmandu and includes both private and government-owned plots. Of the total land, around 16,000 square meters are privately owned, while the remaining area belongs to the Nepal Electricity Authority and the Government of Nepal.

The District Administration Office stated that the acquisition process will proceed following all required legal procedures.

The 400 kV transmission line forms a critical segment of the Kathmandu–Hetauda–Dhalkebar–Inaruwa transmission corridor, expected to have a long-term impact on the country’s electricity transmission capacity.

The project is aimed at strengthening the east-west electricity transmission network from the Kathmandu Valley and is expected to support both domestic energy supply and electricity exports, contributing to the country’s energy stability.
