Spinneys Reports Strong 9-Month Performance and Announces Regional and International Expansion

Dubai, UAE – Spinneys, the region’s leading premium fresh food retailer, has announced its financial results for the third quarter and nine-month period ending 30 September 2025, showcasing strong top-line growth, profitability, and strategic expansion initiatives.

For the first nine months of 2025, revenues reached AED 2.6 billion, up 12.8% from the same period last year, driven by ten new store openings, higher fresh and private label sales, strong like-for-like growth, and increased online penetration. Gross profit rose 13.9% to AED 1.08 billion, maintaining a stable margin of 41.6%, supported by supply chain efficiencies and the success of Spinneys’ fresh and private label offerings.

Adjusted EBITDA increased 19.5% to AED 503 million, achieving a margin of 19.4%, while profit before tax grew 24.4% to AED 253 million. Net profit rose 16.4% to AED 212 million, demonstrating the company’s strong operational discipline despite the introduction of a 6% additional corporate tax under the Pillar Two rules.

Transaction volume expanded 12.3% year-on-year to 30.3 million transactions, reflecting growing customer demand. The slight decline in average basket size to AED 84.2 from AED 85.8 was offset by the success of smaller convenience-focused store formats, which deliver higher margins.

Strategic expansion continued with ten new store openings across the UAE in 2025, including recent launches at Spinneys Bay Square and Kitchen by Spinneys in Dubai Airport Free Zone. Spinneys also announced regional expansion into Kuwait, holding a 51% controlling stake in a joint venture with Alshaya Group, aiming to open ten stores over the next five years. Additionally, international expansion into the Philippines was confirmed through a joint venture with the Ayala Group, marking Spinneys’ first entry outside the GCC.

Sunil Kumar, CEO of Spinneys, said:
"Our strong 2025 performance reflects strategic store expansion, enhanced fresh food and private label assortments, and digital integration across our business. Our entry into Kuwait and the Philippines represents significant milestones in our regional and international growth journey, reinforcing our long-term vision of being the region’s premium fresh food grocery brand of choice."

Founded in 1961, Spinneys now operates 89 stores across the UAE, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, combining high-quality produce with exceptional customer service, positioning itself as the leading premium fresh food retailer in the region.
