Lando Norris Takes Control of F1 Championship After Stunning Brazilian GP Turnaround

Lando Norris claimed his second consecutive victory, putting himself firmly in control of the Formula 1 championship heading into the final races of the season. The Briton now sits 24 points ahead of his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, while Max Verstappen, despite an impressive performance at Interlagos, trails by 49 points.

With a maximum of 83 points available over the remaining three races, the championship is not yet mathematically decided, but Norris’ current form gives him a commanding position as the series moves to Las Vegas from 20-22 November.

The season has flipped dramatically in just seven races over the past two months. After the Dutch Grand Prix in late August, Piastri led Norris by 34 points following his seventh victory of the season and Norris’ retirement. At that stage, the Australian appeared to be the clear title favourite.

However, Piastri’s momentum has collapsed while Norris has steadily improved. Across the last seven grands prix, including two sprint races, Norris has gained a remarkable 58-point swing, showcasing greater consistency and eliminating the small errors that previously hampered him.

While Piastri has struggled to maintain pace—despite occasional flashes in Brazil—Norris has emerged as a formidable contender, demonstrating the skill, speed, and composure of a potential future world champion. The F1 world will now turn its eyes to Las Vegas, where Norris looks set to continue his charge toward the title.
