Rawang, Malaysia – The Selgate Specialist Hospital Rawang (SSH Rawang), in collaboration with the National Lactation Centre under the Health Ministry, successfully hosted the Madani Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative (BFHI) Road Tour 2025, a nationwide campaign aimed at raising public awareness on maternal and child health.
The initiative also seeks to promote exclusive breastfeeding and strengthen the BFHI accreditation movement among private hospitals across Malaysia.
SSH Rawang (Central Region) Chief Executive Officer Miranda Harumal said the programme reflects the hospital’s ongoing commitment to supporting families and building a healthier community.
“At SSH Rawang, we believe that supporting mothers and families is the cornerstone of a healthier community. Through initiatives like the Jelajah Madani BFHI Programme, we reaffirm our commitment to providing compassionate, family-centred care and empowering women with the knowledge and support they deserve,” Miranda said in a statement.
The event kicked off with complimentary basic health screenings, including blood pressure, glucose, and body mass index (BMI) checks. Participants also attended engaging health talks delivered by Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist Dr Selva Ganesan Sockalingam and Consultant General and Robotic Surgeon Dr Shahril Khalid.
Dr Selva addressed key women’s health issues, while Dr Shahril highlighted the importance of breast screening awareness.
Attendees were later given a guided hospital tour, exploring SSH Rawang’s maternity ward, paediatric services, and labour room, offering an inside look at the hospital’s advanced facilities and holistic approach to family healthcare.
The highlight of the event was a flag-off ceremony led by Miranda and SSH’s senior management team for a convoy of 50 women superbikers, symbolising women’s empowerment and solidarity in promoting maternal health.
Also present were SSH consultants, staff members, and representatives from the Health Ministry, reflecting the hospital’s strong dedication to family wellness, community engagement, and Madani values in healthcare.
