Oil prices jumped roughly 4% to reach a one-week high on Thursday, driven by fresh ballistic missile attacks against Saudi Arabia by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi forces, rigid stances in U.S.–Iran diplomacy, and deepening concerns over global refined product supplies.
Brent crude futures climbed $4.10, or 4.0%, to trade at $107.18 a barrel, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained $3.66, or 4.0%, to $95.82 a barrel.
Having rallied roughly 8% over the past two sessions, Brent is on track for its highest settlement since September 15. The rebound in WTI marked its first daily advance in seven trading days following a cumulative 13% decline.

Ballistic Attacks and Regional Friction
The rally accelerated after the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced it had intercepted six Houthi-launched ballistic missiles targeting the southern province of Taif and the Yanbu industrial zone along the Red Sea coast.
While Saudi Arabia has been raising pumping volumes through its East-West Pipeline to redirect crude toward Yanbu, commercial tanker loadings have yet to resume normally, according to shipping and satellite tracking data.
Concurrently, regional aviation corridors faced disruptions as Iranian flights to Persian Gulf hubs, including Dubai, were suspended following the expiration of a U.S. deadline ordering international companies to cut ties with Iranian carriers. Washington characterized the enforcement shift as part of an expanding secondary sanctions regime, while Iranian officials warned neighboring states that cooperating with the measures could render regional airport infrastructure vulnerable to retaliation.
Diplomatic Deadlock & Nuclear Rhetoric
Hopes for near-term diplomatic de-escalation faded following statements at the United Nations General Assembly. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed that Tehran would not yield to U.S. pressure and reiterated support for the country's nuclear program.
The remarks prompted renewed warnings from the White House, where President Donald Trump reiterated that limiting Iranian nuclear development remains an absolute red line. While diplomatic channels technically remain open, negotiators on both sides acknowledge that core differences remain unresolved.

Fuel market pressures broadened on Thursday as U.S. diesel futures surged more than 5%.
European Union and U.S. trade representatives are engaged in high-level discussions regarding reports that Washington is weighing a potential 90-day ban on domestic diesel exports ahead of the upcoming November midterm elections. While U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright publicly disputed the report, energy analysts warned that restricting U.S. middle distillate outflows would tighten global supplies and trigger secondary price shocks across international transport and industrial sectors.
