Shares of Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone are likely to remain in focus after leading brokerages reiterated their positive stance following strong cargo traffic growth in May and a robust long-term growth outlook.
The stock closed 1.7% higher at ₹1,813.1 on Tuesday, giving the company a market capitalization of approximately ₹4.2 lakh crore. Over the past year, the stock has gained 26.6%, significantly outperforming the Nifty 50, which has declined 4.3% during the same period.
Strong Cargo Growth Supports Optimism
Adani Ports handled 48.3 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo in May 2026, representing a 16% year-on-year increase. Growth was driven primarily by:
- Liquid cargo volumes rising 33%
- Container volumes increasing 17%
- Continued strength across its integrated port and logistics network
However, logistics rail volumes declined 19% year-on-year to 48,170 TEUs during the month.
Nomura Reiterates 'Buy'
Nomura maintained its Buy rating on the stock with a target price of ₹1,930.
The brokerage highlighted:
- Strong container and liquid cargo growth
- Market-leading position in India's port sector
- Benefits from its integrated logistics ecosystem
- Management guidance of 19% revenue CAGR and 18% EBITDA CAGR through FY31
Nomura expects Adani Ports to deliver an EBITDA CAGR of approximately 19% between FY26 and FY28.
Jefferies Raises Target Price
Jefferies also reaffirmed its Buy recommendation and increased its target price to ₹2,160, implying more than 19% upside from current levels.
The brokerage:
- Raised FY28 and FY29 EBITDA estimates by 3–5%
- Expects demand-supply tightness in Gujarat and Maharashtra ports to support market-share gains
- Sees additional growth potential from the Vizhinjam International Seaport project
- Believes strong cash flows will support expansion and deleveraging
Long-Term Growth Story Remains Intact
As India's largest private port operator, Adani Ports commands roughly 27% of the country's port traffic. The company operates 15 ports and terminals across India and has an international presence through four overseas ports and terminals.
With strong cargo growth, expanding infrastructure assets, increasing container traffic, and supportive analyst forecasts, brokerages continue to view Adani Ports as one of the strongest long-term plays in India's logistics and infrastructure sector.
